Building on the success of eeCAN’s Bike Amnesty in November 2025, which saw more than 65 donated bicycles collected, refurbished by Surrey Active and redistributed across the Surrey community, eeCAN will once again partner with Surrey Active to repeat the event.
In addition, eeCAN is broadening the initiative by partnering with Relove Technology to introduce a Tech Amnesty, giving residents the opportunity to safely give unwanted electronic devices a second life. Surrey County Council’s recycling contractor, Suez, will also support the event.
Every person making the effort to donate on the day and willing to sign up for eeCAN updates, will be entered into a raffle for the following:
🚲Bike Amnesty (Bike donations)– 1 x Free maintenance course up to £100 (Donated by FullCycle )
📱 Tech Amnesty (Tech donations)– 1 x Free refurbished mobile phone up to a value of £200 (Donated by Relove)
The two lucky winners will be notified in November by eeCAN, via e-mail. They then can book their free maintenance course from FreeCycle or arrange to pick up their refurbished phone from Relove.
On Saturday 24th October 2026 (9am to 5pm) a pop-up mobile Bike and Tech recycling station will be set up in the church's scout hall to accept suitable bikes as well as old phones and small devices such as gaming consoles, iPods, iPads, tablets, laptops and MacBooks for responsible reuse and recycling.
As part of the service, Relove will carry out secure, certified data-wiping live on site, so you can donate with confidence. Relove will also backup any data (if required) sign out of Icloud or google accounts and remove sims. If you prefer to do this yourself, Relove shares simple steps on their website, or will help you on the day. For further information go to www.relovetechnology.com
Electronic waste is a growing environmental issue and keeping devices in use for longer is one of the most impactful ways to cut their carbon footprint. Relove’s approach prioritises re-use over raw-material recycling. Suitable devices are refurbished and found new homes, often in low-income countries.
Items that can’t be restored are harvested for parts and processed at Relove’s accredited facilities where their mantra is “100% reuse and zero landfill.”
Their award-winning processes ensure that every device is fully tested, graded and securely cleared of data to the highest industry standards. Combined with a strict chain of custody from collection to resale, you can be assured that every device is handled with absolute security and care. Devices that can’t be wiped on site will be securely processed back at Relove’s accredited recycling facility.
So start gathering your spare bikes and any old tech now.
Unfortunately, due to lack of storage, we cannot accept donations prior to the event. Contact by e-mail if you need further advice
